The Iconic Puzzle Game Didn't Triumph at This Gaming Ceremony — A New Category Could Fix That

Each time a significant honors show approaches, there’s always a demand for introducing additional classifications to honor underappreciated efforts and satisfy the passions of fans who have specialized interests.

Another commentator made the case for a horror game category. That would rule. The same goes for strategy board titles, which is someone's personal cause. But they will have to forgive me if I try to elbow in front since similar to single-minded supporters, there's a strong justification backing this proposal remains most pressing and significant. The demand is this: It's essential to create a classification for brain-teasing titles.

Categorizing Game Types

Organizing artistic expressions defies precise measurement; it’s very subjective, and typically generate discussions resulting in unclear classifications. There’s a reason cinema institutions steer clear of genre categories. But it is an unavoidable compromise in the world of gaming, that demonstrate such variety it's challenging to consider them a single creative category.

To recognize the complete range of gaming accomplishments to gain proper attention, while allowing diverse titles to compete fairly, classification by type becomes crucial.

Current Gaming Award Categories

The major gaming awards presently include award types recognizing Action-oriented games, Action/Adventure, RPG experiences, Combat games, Simulation and strategy titles, and Sports/Racing games. Between them, these award types actually cover numerous genres, making space possible for most games within them.

This doesn't apply to brain-teasing titles. No appropriate category exists to accommodate them. Think about these recent excellent titles, each quite distinct: structural challenges from a specific release, fast-paced pattern recognition from another release, engaging interpersonal challenges from additional release. What category would fit them within current classifications? Unfortunately, nowhere.

Acknowledgment Issues

There are dozens outstanding logic titles published annually without proper recognition during gaming ceremonies, if they accidentally match award groups including Handheld titles, Virtual reality experiences, and the highly challenging small studio competitions.

  • One classic puzzle game wasn’t nominated for anything in 2014
  • A different innovative game missed out during that ceremony
  • Popular arranging title was overlooked in 2021
  • Limited numbers of puzzle games barely qualified for independent or mobile categories

Importance of Logic Titles

Frequently they represent compact experiences, yet the craft of the puzzle game carries substantial weight. Iconic mobile puzzle games stand as the most-played games worldwide and have been for over a decade.

The legendary block-stacking game challenges popular creative games claiming status as most purchased experience; it also contends for top gaming experience. Puzzle games are foundational to the art of video games, and engaging with diverse game types.

The Solution and Justification

Puzzle games wouldn’t have this problem. One could readily select multiple candidates with fascinating, diverse, deserving games every year with ease — actually, with challenge, because you’d have to leave numerous deserving experiences.

To emphasize again, these represent titles lacking appropriate categories during prominent ceremonies. Logic title developers are working at the demanding boundary interactive creation, producing among the purest expressions of the video game form. Comparable to film action specialists, they merit acknowledgment. Don't make them wait generations.
